Here’s the original story of how the fake pit pass story got to be in MXA.

In 1985 I was working at JT Racing, and we were just starting to develop protective gear for the “new” sport of mountain biking. I was surprised how many motocrossers didn’t know about mountain bikes.

Here’s the story behing the infamous photo: Dave Miller lost his battle with cancer. He passed away, too young, in the Spring of 2020, and now we’re just left with all the cool bikes he built, and the memories. Racer, tuner, innovator he was a So Cal moto legend.

In 2010, Zap from Motocross Action Magazine was going to do a “Whatever happened to…” story about me. Here’s about as far as it got in emails:

Curt Evans has been stuck in Ashland since 1995 and is a familiar face to many. Whether this is a good thing or not we are not sure… but we will say he is well known around these parts.
